Igor Menaker
Born in a remote town in Eastern Siberia to Geologist parents, Igor spent a great deal of time in remote areas. While his parents pursued their science, Igor was left to wonder in the wilderness. In ways he felt that was his home. He had not discovered photography so the scenery was only ingrained in his mind. Years later he had not forgotten the beauty that was bestowed on the Earth and now living with his parents in Chicago his love of the natural world remained with him. He began using an inexpensive camera to capture what he was seeing. While on one of his trip to the Western United State he purchased a book on landscape photography and his life changed immediately, he realized that there was more to photography than snapshots. It is an art, one he could do.
Igor has a vivid sense of design and composition, he sees beauty everywhere and captures it in his photographs for others to enjoy.
Igor relates his photography to love, not love between two people, not relational; it’s more like love from heaven a bliss like state, Zen. He feels John Lennon had it right “All you need is Love” and his purpose is to make his photographs bring love. There is a legion of artists that constantly replenish the reservoir of positive energy in the world but there is also a drain hole of ignorance that allows the positive energy to escape. Igor’s mission is to make photographs that you look at, that is where the mystery happens and the message of love is sent and received.
